Basic Crime Scene Investigation Course
Course Overview: This course is designed for newly assigned detectives, patrol officers
or any law enforcement personnel having duties in crime scene investigation. This course is
also a beneficial refresher course for experienced investigators. Proven methods and techniques
are demonstrated and time is allotted for each student to perform hands-on training in many of
the topic areas. Basic instruction is provided in the areas of photographic techniques,
sketching, fingerprint powders, superglue fuming, evidence collection & packaging, footwear & tiretracks and latent development processes. Class size is limited to 20.

Advanced Crime Scene Investigation
Course Overview: This 4 day course is designed for experienced investigative personnel but
is also a beneficial course for newly assigned investigators. Proven methods and techniques are demonstrated and time is allotted for each student to perform hands-on training and photographic exercises in many of the topic areas. Advanced instruction is provided in the areas of
photographic techniques, sketching, evidence collection, latent print development using UV & fluorescent powders, superglue fuming, night-time photography, blood enhancement chemicals,
and more. Class size is limited to 15. NOTE: Day 2 will begin at 2PM and involve a night-time photography session.

Homicide Investigation 101
Course Overview: This course is designed for newly assigned detectives or investigators
with limited experience in conducting a death investigation. The course is also beneficial for
supervisors responsible for managing a death scene. This course provides the best information
on how to properly work the case from scene to the courtroom. Topics include first officer
duties, tools for the investigator, teamwork strategies, building the case and several case
reviews. The course is instructed by a retired homicide detective and a former crime lab
supervisor. Class size is limited to 20.

Fingerprint Classification & AFIS Preparation
Course Overview: This course is a standard 40 hour course in fingerprint identification that
covers pattern recognition, ridge counting, whorl tracing, Henry & NCIC classification systems,
obtaining prints with Live Scan & ink, AFIS overview and basic comparison techniques. Great course
for personnel that have been recently assigned to a Records and Identification or AFIS unit. This
course will teach basic skills for personnel in agencies receiving new AFIS installation. Students
need to bring a fingerprint magnifier and ridge counter. Class size is limited to 15.

Fingerprint Comparison Course
Course Overview: This course is designed for all personnel having duties associated
with the use of fingerprints as a means of identification. This would include persons comparing
inked prints or live scan prints to establish existence of a criminal history or to establish
identity of a deceased person. Also, a very useful course for persons assigned to a latent print
or identification section that are required to compare latent finger and palm prints from crime
scenes to the inked prints of suspects to establish identification or elimination as the source
of the print. Excellent course for personnel that are newly assigned to an ID Unit or AFIS
section. Class size limited to 15.

Management of a Latent Print Unit
Course Overview: An extremely beneficial course for managers, supervisors and upper
level administrative staff in agencies that have recently established or are in the process
of establishing a Latent Print Unit. The course will provide information on employee selection
and retention standards, evaluating incoming latent prints, storage of latent evidence,
reporting and documentation, case assignment and productivity and unit goals/objectives. The
instructor is a former Crime Lab Supervisor with over 30 years of combined latent print and
management experience. Class size is limited to 15.

Superglue & Powder Workshop
Course Overview: This 2 day course will provide the necessary information to introduce the
students to the many methods available to superglue fume physical evidence. The use of superglue fuming will greatly assist in the recovery of fragile latent print evidence on non-porous items
and follow-up techniques are presented to include standard and magnetic powders as well as
fluorescent powders and dye stains. Photographic techniques are utilized to document the latent
prints therefore it is recommended that students bring a camera kit for this portion of class.

Advanced Latent Development Course
Course Overview: This course is designed for personnel needing additional experience
for developing latent prints on various types of evidence in both the field and crime lab
settings. Proven latent development techniques are discussed, demonstrated and practiced
during the seminar. Ample time is allotted for each student to utilize many of the latent
development processes. Class size is limited to 15.

Alternate Light Sources and LASERS for Evidence Detection
Course Overview: This specialty training session is tailored timewise to fit the agency’s
needs, from 8 hours to 40 hours. This course is designed for investigative units that are
contemplating the purchase of an ALS/LASER or for those that have recently purchased the ALS.
Topics covered include theory of light, safety, crime scene searches, fluorescent chemicals and
powders, photographic documentation and more.

Police Photography Course
Course Overview: This 3 day course is designed for personnel with a basic understanding
of photographic principles and standard camera usage, but is also a beneficial course for newly assigned photographers. The digital camera format is also part of the curriculum. Proven methods
and techniques are demonstrated and time is allotted for each student to perform photographic
exercises in many of the topic areas. Students should bring camera, flash and tripod. Film,
processing and digital printing is provided by the instructor. Class size is limited to 15.
NOTE: Day 2 will begin at 2PM and involve a night-time photography session.

Course Overview: This course is designed for newly assigned detectives, patrol officers or
any law enforcement personnel having duties in crime scene investigation and is also a beneficial
refresher course for experienced investigators. Proven methods and techniques are demonstrated and

topic areas; emphasis is placed on topics concerning processing the scene thoroughly. Topics include
basic photographic techniques, sketching, fingerprint powders, superglue fuming, evidence collection & packaging, footwear & tiretracks and latent development processes. Class size is limited to 20.

Win at Ground Fighting
Course Overview: A physically demanding and extremely intensive course that will
prepare officers for handling most any type of personal confrontation on the street.
Techniques covered, demonstrated and performed by each student include controllers, take
downs, spikes and strikes. Ground fighting at its’ best instructed by a state champion
wrestler and black belt with over 30 years of experience in defensive fighting. Class
size limited to 10.

Stress Management for Law Enforcement
Course Overview: This is a course designed around 40 hours of instruction that can be easily
modified into whatever time frame is most suited for the client. It explores, in depth: the
philosophies, ramifications and solutions of stress and stressful situations, particularly in the
field of law enforcement. Some of the topics discussed are: Assessment of stressors and stress
reactions, personalmanagement techniques, the role of nutrition in health and stress resolution,
the role of physical fitness, dealing with traumatic incidents, substance abuse and addictive
behavior, resource utilization and the role of the organization and stress resolution. The subject material is valuable to an individual not only on the job, but also in the home and personal life
in connection with relationships with family and friends.
First Response Negotiations
Course Overview: This course is designed to prepare law enforcement officers, tactical
team members (SWAT), and fire/rescue personnel who are the first to respond to calls involving
hostages or barricaded persons. This seminar will assist those first responders in identifying
potential incidents and increase their communication skills to prevent the incident from
escalating. The student will gain an understanding of the dynamics of hostage taking and the
types of individuals he/she will be confronted with in these situations.
